Sustainable green roof solution - 06 March 2009 With the development of sustainable building in New Zealand Skellerup Viking Roofing and Waterproofing has identified the importance of advocating the roofing system and its accessories as part of the green building solution.
To promote sustainable roofing solutions in New Zealand Skellerup Viking Roofing and Waterproofing has joined New Zealand’s Green Building Council.
“Our roofing solutions have the potential to reduce the impact on the environment and assist with a building’s Green Star rating through reducing the building’s energy use” says General Manager, Rod McAneaney “Our membership of the Green Building Council provides the opportunity to promote and develop sustainable roofing solutions for the construction industry in New Zealand”.
Skellerup Viking’s sustainable roofing solutions include Enviroclad which was launched last year. Skellerup Enviroclad is highly reflective in white and grey; thus contributing to the reduction in a building’s energy use and cooling costs to assist with its Green Star rating.
Enviroclad’s off-cuts are 100% recyclable during the manufacturing process and it has the ability to be applied straight over existing rubber, bitumen and fibreglass surfaces, saving not only labour hours, but more importantly, dumping of the existing into the local landfill.
